Maxime Renaux secured his first podium of the 2026 season during round three of the MXGP World Championship. The Yamaha rider demonstrated his growing strength with a consistent performance across both motos.
Renaux had an excellent start in the first moto, entering the first corner in third place. Although he briefly dropped to P4, he quickly recovered and moved forward again. When Romain Febvre crashed, Renaux capitalized perfectly and took over second place. The leader was by then too far ahead, so Renaux had to settle for P2 and a strong foundation for the overall standings.
The second moto started less ideally. Renaux was around eighth place after the start, but quickly worked his way up to P6. Halfway through the race, however, he lost some rhythm and dropped back to P7. Nevertheless, that proved to be enough. With his consistent daily result, he secured his first podium of the season.
With this result, Renaux climbs to fourth place in the championship. After strong weekends on completely different circuits in Spain and Switzerland, he shows that he is a serious contender for the top of the standings. The next round of the season will take place in Sardinia on April 11-12. With his first podium under his belt, Renaux will be at the start with full confidence.
Afterwards, Renaux was realistic but satisfied:
"It was a good weekend. The first moto was strong, but in the second I rode a bit tense. Still, this is a solid result and we are moving in the right direction."
